The IT Spot: more casting news
So, the day after the shooting schedule announcement, we have more news: Bill Hader and James McAvoy are in talks to play adult Ritchie and Bill, respectively. Some sources are already saying it's a done deal, even.
Well, I like both of these actors a whole lot. They'd definitely have the chops to pull off the characters, and then some. And almost anything would be an improvement over...
I still think Seth Green and Robert Sean Leonard would have rocked harder, but that's just me. Now the question is who can play adult Ben better than the late, great, John Ritter?
I don't really have any other ideas. But I'm excited/scared to find out.

The IT Spot: Chapter 2 news!
We have a confirmed start date for production on IT: Chapter Two. We got the news from IndieWire:
The sequel to “It,” the highest-grossing Stephen King adaptation to date, will begin filming in July. “The script is still being finalized and the locations are currently being scouted in anticipation of shooting then,” confirmed producer Roy Lee. Director Andrés Muschietti will return to extend the first installment into a franchise. One of the original screenplay’s three writers, Gary Dauberman, is at work on the script."
Soooo.....not really a date. And no casting yet, though Jessica Chastain may be adult Bev.
Guess I'll see you guys in a few months.

On the 2nd Blog of Christmas...
...I started watching Christmas movies!
Now, I love Christmas movies. Not the old-tyme classics like It's a Wonderful Life (ugh) or White Christmas (noise of indifference since I haven't seen it), but contemporary things, like Die Hard, Gremlins, and The Santa Clause.
There's also a rich tradition of...not so great Christmas classics. Things like Magic Christmas Tree:
The 12 Days of Christmas (starring Phil Hartman. Seriously):
And...this:
Much like bad horror movies, bad Christmas movies have a certain charm. They're silly and goofy and full of cheese. I've saved up a few choice morsels to share with loved ones as the holidays go on, but it's not hard to find your own examples. I only draw the line at 'life affirming'/Lifetime style releases. I don't need to see an angel going to earth and falling in love, or a battered woman falling in love, or a loveless couple falling in love again all in time for Christmas.
Christmas, aside from being about Christ, is definitely a time to spread joy and be with loved ones. And my favorite way to do both is by laughing at something cheesy. And eating cheese, probably. Mmm.
So, as we go into that cold Christmas night, warm yourself with cheese and laughter. Unless you're my lactose intolerant brother in law. Then skip right to the mulled cider.

On the first day of Christmas...
...I brought my blog back to liiiiife!
Sorry for the November hiatus, folks. I had a few other projects that needed doing, and after Blogtober I was a little burned out. But now the holidays are upon us, and I can once again start talking about what's going on.
First, yes, I saw Thor Ragnarok and Justice League. I prefer Thor overall, but there were a few nice moments in Justice League with smiling Superman, Aqua-Mamoa, and that nice Jewish boy.
As of this writing I haven't seen the Infinity War trailer. I'm trying to wait and see it in a theater.
As for non-pop culture, HOLY SHIT EVERYBODY'S GETTING FIRED, NO WHITE DUES GOT NOMINATED FOR BEST GRAMMY, AND I'M NOT TOUCHING POLITICS HERE.

Halloweekend
So, this is the big party weekend of the year. Or in my case the big work on Saturday and hang out with family while trying to find time for Stranger Things Season 2 weekend of the year. My annual Halloween movie night had to be pushed back to the weekend after. A decision I loath, but it's better than no viewing party at all.
Frankly, this has been a less than stellar October for me. Most of my friends were occupied all month long by a play I wasn't in (I'm in a different play), making get-togethers all but impossible. So far I've squeezed in a viewing of Hocus Pocus with some friends who hadn't seen it before.
I've also finished re-watching American Horror Story: Freak Show with my husband, who has been very understanding during the month. He's generally lukewarm to horror, as he doesn't get scared.
But he's willing to watch stuff with a genuinely good story. So things like AHS, Krampus, Get Out, and the like get a pass.
That still leaves me alone when it comes to sagas and cheese fests. Who will sit with me and watch the Puppet Master series? Or lesser classics like Pumpkinhead and Wishmaster? Or the godawful not-even-really-a-horror-movie The Last Shark?
I'm sad I haven't been able to properly celebrate and enjoy this Halloween season. Thank goodness for these blogs. And a special shout-out to my over 800 (!) followers on the Amino Horror App. It's nice to know I'm not shouting into the void, or worse, just annoying friends and family.
Anyway, for those of you who can, have fun this weekend. I'll be back next week for the last of the thrills.
