Nightmares and Dreamscapes

Being home sick for three days has given me some...interesting dreams. I'll chronicle them here, since that's what I always do.

The first one began with my family and friends sitting just outside my backdoor, having a party. It was dusk, and we were all sitting around a round table when a stranger approached. She looked like a cross between an alien-human hybrid and a shadow person.  Yes, I'm an avid X-Files fan.

She looked like a young African american woman, with red eyes and literally black skin. "A shadow person!" I screamed as she moved to attack. Someone at the party asked what that was. "A being from another dimension. No one knows what they want from us!"

I knew what this one wanted. She wanted to kill. She was evil. I slammed her head into the ground, and she began to deflate into a paper figure. I screamed about Jesus compelling her to leave, how God banishes her from this place, etc. The creature began to cry and I went on, in full-blown southern preacher style, to explain Jesus was sent here to die for us, and her only salvation lay with Christ. She agreed, became 3d, and said she'd leave.

But.

There was a small hair ribbon she needed from inside my house. I told her to go without it. She refused, asking to come in. I asked one friend to wait with her, watch her, while I got it. I went in to my house and while I searched for 2 seconds, all went quiet.

I ran back outside; the creature laughed over the bodies of my dead friends and family. All but two were dead. I demanded why my living friend hadn't stopped the slaughter. No answer. I woke up instead.

And like an idiot, went back to sleep.

I was going home from work with my friend and coworker when we detoured into a frozen, snowy field. In this field was my Grandmother, who passed away last year. She looked fine, and was walking towards a bank. I stopped her, and she was glad to see me. She explained that she was going to apply for a credit card, that she just HAD to get this credit card. I followed her in, bewildered. Inside was the rest of my family, in line, seemingly unaware of my grandmother. My grandfather was there. What should I do? Do I tell him that his wife is alive again, or just wait to see how it played out?

There was a third dream, but all I remember is being unable to listen to an important voicemail and the members of NWA (as portrayed by their film actors) trying not to get killed by one another.

I think I'm still sick.

Overdoing it

I mentioned before how I'm trying to get through the backlog of Walking Dead episodes.Yesterday I marathoned four episodes in a row. I sat in my living room, thinking about how sad I would be during a zombie apocalypse, losing friends, family home, and due to one of the B-Plots of the episode, my books.

Then I had a nightmare where some sort of massive earthquake happened, and roving bandits came to take my books.

Not even take; they were going to pay for the books. But many of my collection are from stores long-closed and places I'll never go again. They weren't just taking my books; they were taking my happy memories too.

Incredibly useful image! Hooray!

When I woke up it all seemed a lot sillier than it did in the dream where I begged them not to take my books (or at least to spo cutting up the jackets). Today I'm going to stick to Friends and lighter fare while I clean the house. Too much doom and gloom isn't good for me.

I had a (bad) dream

You know those stress dreams I complain about having, and the normal nightmares I wasn't getting (until extremely recently)? Here's two of them!

  • Big cat

It's fall, and I'm standing in my driveway with my Mom. Across the street, way back in my neighbor's acreage, I see a mountain lion.

"Mom. Mom. Mom! MOM!" I shout. "Mountain Lion, look!"

She refused to look until it was much closer, then freaked out and we ran inside with it literally on our heels. A common theme in my nightmares and stress dreams.

  • The latest:

I'm playing hide and seek with my husband's stepdad while he cruises along in a van (not the scary part, it was a friendly game. Weird, but apparently normal in the world of the dream). We end up at a park that is supposedly haunted by a monster. There are circle little paintings of a purple face and the eyes and smile of Hugo Weaving in this pic:

We get to the bottom of a very steep hill where there's a dilapidated carriage house/covered bridge. We can see inside: just some benches and graffiti. A girl comes out screaming 'He's in there!' and runs away. We laugh and head in.

Inside, under the bench, a figure is crouched. It's this, but with the aforementioned face, and about eight feet tall and purple.
Sans ocean and feels.

We took off up the hill, but I feel behind. The thing grabbed me with it's claws a few times, but we escaped into the van. We drove away, totally freaked out, knowing no one would ever believe us. I started panicking, knowing I was going to have nightmares and mental scarring forever from the encounter.

When I woke up I was so happy it wasn't real I wasn't even scared anymore. So hooray!
