Harley Quinn news!
Harley Quinn is FINALLY on her way to the big screen!
Margot Robbie, last seen as Leonardo DiCaprio's 2nd wife in The Wolf of Wall Street (and other things, but I who cares, WOLF OF WALL STREET!) will play Harley Quinn in DCs upcoming Suicide Squad movie. As a fan of Harley Quinn I'm very excited. I enjoyed her work in Wolf, and I think she's a superb choice to bring the Joker's Gal to the big screen.
Harley is a long time fan favorite. People have wanted her in the live-action movies for twenty years. I couldn't be happier that it's finally happening.
She's a doctor, a gymnast, a devoted (and battered) girlfriend, and INSANE. While no one can replace Arleen Sorkin, I think Ms. Robbie is a fine choice to bring Harley to life.
So in short: HARLEY HARLEY HARLEEEEEEEEEY!

Ash vs. Evil Dead
Yesterday the AMAZING news of the new Evil Dead TV series starring Bruce Campbell broke. Next year, Sam Raimi will bring the deadites back to the screen with an aged Ash who “has been avoiding maturity, responsibility, and the deadites for 30 years.”
Needless to day, I’m excited.
This is the correct excitement level.
The internet is abuzz with the news. People are speculating about where the story will go: will we see the car? Will Ash still work at S-Mart? Will is be set in Michigan? I hope the answers are all a big yes, but even if they aren't, who cares, NEW EVIL DEAD SERIES! FIVE HOURS OF EVIL DEAD AND ASH WILLIAMS! YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
It's going to be out next year, so there's plenty of time to geek out and speculate. For now, I'm just happy hearing that it's happening. :D

Sailor Moon Crystal: So far
I've posted before about how much I like Sailor Moon and how I'm excited about the new anime, Sailor Moon Crystal: I own all the mangas and watched a good portion of it in the 90s when the first incarnation of the anime aired.
Now that we're a few episodes in, and the main plot is really rolling, I can say I LOVE Sailor Moon Crystal.
It's much more like the manga than the 90s series. No more filler episodes with comedic monsters-of-the-week. No more useless Sailor Moon crying and having the other scouts/Tuxedo Mask save her. Granted, that does happen, but she also saves people, and her worth as a person isn't questioned.
I'm not a huge fan of Sailor Moon's voice, but as it's the original Japanese actress, I can understand the casting. She's not terrible by any means, just a smidgen high-pitched for my tastes.
I'm really enjoying the more serious tone. The romance feels more natural, and the crises Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts are going through actually make me feel something other than annoyed. It's a win.
There are plenty of people who will fight tooth and nail with me, due to nostalgia or a sense of 'Only real fans like the old version'. These people are jerks. You can like any version of Sailor Moon and be a 'real' fan, without giving a crap about the other versions. There's more than manga and the two animes: Movies, live action stage shows, live action TV shows, and several long-running musicals. Long live Sailor Moon!

Five Things I've Learned at the vet
Working as a Vet Tech has been an enlightening experience. Here are a few of the most interesting things I've learned so far.
5. Worms are shaped like lemons
To be specific, Whipworms (a problem found in dogs) look like brown lemons under a microscope. I've also seen roundworms, but they are literally just circles.
This isn't exactly useful knowledge without a microscope and a fecal sample. Luckily, I have access to those things.
4. Big dogs are usually better patients.
Little dogs, in my experience, are far worse patients. They're more likely to snap and kick than their bigger counterparts. Not that all big dogs are good: I nearly got bitten by an escape artist yesterday that got out of his muzzle three times.
And there are little dogs that are sweethearts. But if I've got two dogs of different sizes, usually the little one will be the bigger ass.
3. Accidents happen, but not that often
I've cleaned up spilled pee on average less than once a day at my location. Poop even less, especially outside our kennels. It does happen, so don't feel bad about your animal having an accident. Just know it's not as common as you've been led to think.
2. We will try and upsell you (for the greater good)
There are things I'm encouraged to sell at the hospital: post-surgery canned food, extra IV fluids, and a host of medicine. And they are all very good products. Many of our techs use the very items we recommend to you. If your tech says something is 'highly recommended', LISTEN. An extra $10 now means Fido or Fluffy are going to recover faster, with less pain, or just be happier. We're not trying to scam you.

We had a crazy cat lady (the official term) come in for over an hour to discuss what kind of medication her cats needed for itching. When my coworker named fleas as a possible cause, the woman started screaming. She also complained about us not being able to diagnose the cats sight unseen, and not having a non-existent product that would "Kill EVERYTHING that could possibly harm my cats!"
Don't be offended if we can't help without seeing the animal. Don't be offended if we suggest the animal may have fleas. We're not judging you or saying you're a bad owner, I promise. Just don't act like we're there to screw you over and we'll get along fine.
